Chiwetel Ejiofor was born in the UK to Nigerian parents. He is an actor, director, producer and writer, who has worked on numerous stage, film and television projects. He made his breakthrough in the film "Serenading Susan" (1998), for which he was nominated for a BAFTA award Best Actor Award. He went on to star in the successful "Sarafina!" (2001), for which he won an Academy Award® for Best Supporting Actor
He has also starred in "Love & Basketball" (2000) and "The Golden Compass" (2007). His other film credits include "The Road to Guantánamo" (2006), "" (2002) and "Doctor Who" (2005). His television credits include "The Wire", "Sex Traffic", "Life on Mars", "Doctor Who Confidential", "Kavanagh QC" and BBC's adaptation of P.D.
James' novel, "Death in Holy Orders". Ejiofor has also written three novels: "Ego Bound", published in 2008, which won the Caine Prize for African Writing in 2008; "A Long Way Gone", published in 2009, which won the John Creasey Memorial Dagger for Fiction at the Crime Readers' Choice Awards 2014; and, most recently, "Likely Story".
